"Echo and Narcissus"
"Echo and Narcissus"
Polderlicht@home was inspired on the first Biennale for International Light Art in the western of Germany (Spring 2010): sixty light structures were shown on sixty different locations spread over six towns. And so was born the idea of a trail through the Oosterparkbuurt, alongside a range of private addresses. At each address will therefore, be a work of art with light installations, sound or video art. The participating artists of polderlicht are a mix of 18 emerging talents: Milou Rabe, Bas Peeters, Melissa Cruz Garcia, Femke Moedt, Femke Moedt, Elodie Pong, Femke van Heerikhuizen, Yarre Stooker, J. Jacobson, Nico Parlevliet, Tim Olden, Sara Rajaei, Peter van der Es, Wiersma & Smeets, Titia Ex, Arno Scheper, Miloushka Bokma, Rosa Kijne. Polderlicht is a very diverse event, in all cases and seeks a relationship with the place where it is installed and where possible with the resident (user) of that place.
Drawing, slide projector, mirror and books.

Site specific project.
In my interpretation of the poem "Echo and Narcissus" written by the Roman poet Ovid as part of his work "Metamorfoses"; Echo it´s the ceiling rose at the biologist house where there is a suggestion of a lamp.
The appearance of the lamp its created by the reflection of a miniature drawing (a colourful rosseton) projected on a mirror, the Narcissus.
So Narcissus gives light to Echo, with the aural effect on the ceiling. It´s in fact, the antithesis of the poem.
