TV Review: Vampire Diaries: The Murder of One (Pic Overload)

-I love Klaus trying to supposedly bond with his big brother. He is up to no good once again. I love it.

-I love how Damon touches Elena and tells her that she is playing Klaus in their scenario and she just hated being touched by him! It was too funny.
Caroline: Why do I always have to be Klaus bait?
Damon: Because he's obsessed with you. But for right now, we need you to play Rebekah. We use the quarterback to distract you. Just keep her talkin'.
Matt: How?
Damon: Act interested. She's lonely, desperate.
Caroline: Clearly. She slept with you.

Damon: I gotta admit, even for me, it's a little kinky.

Caroline: Right after I turned, into a vampire, I killed someone. A stranger. I just killed him. And what's worse is, I liked it. I have blood on my hands, too. We all do. Yeah, the blood in your hands is my father's, and maybe the guy I killed was someone's father, too. Look, all I know is, I'm no better than you. So, I'm going to take a page from the Elena Gilbert handbook and choose to believe that you can be saved. Okay?

-Damon drinking from Elena was so intimate. I felt like I shouldn't be watching them! It was so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes as usual.

-I love how heartless Klaus looks to Bonnie. I love it when he's bad. He has such an animalistic entity about him. Those fangs are too sexy.

-They killed Finn! They did it! I didn't think they could!

-I feel bad for Bonnie. She couldn't take any more.

-I knew Sage would be after Stefan! But then, she just died.

-The new spin in this show is too much! Killing an original could mean killing every single vampire there is!

-I love Klaus but not when he's hurting Damon!
Stefan: What is wrong with you?
Klaus: What is wrong with you?! Do you really have no appreciation for me? I have given you someone to hate, to loathe, a target, for all of your anger, so you don't have to turn it on yourself. I have given your life purpose as your friend. I really think you should be thanking me.
-I really do love that speech (above). Klaus is not bad. He's just misunderstood.
Rebekah: The Salvatore brothers may fight like dogs, but in the end, they would die for each other. At least they know what family means. You destroyed ours.
Klaus: I wanted a family. They just didn't want me.
The scene between Stefan and Elena was so sad! It just broke my heart and seriously made me cry. Why is it so complicated? Why can't they just have each other already? (I think I want to remake the scene if I can find an awesome Stefan)

Elena: Hey.
Stefan: Hey.
Elena: You haven't said much since you got back home.
Stefan: I'll be a ball of sunshine once Damon gets Alaric's stake back. Promise.
Elena: You really scared me today. You wouldn't have survived if you went up against Klaus on your own, you know that right?
Stefan: Well you don't have to worry about that anymore.
Elena: Why?
Stefan: Because he's not worth it. All this time and energy that I've wasted hating him, it was for nothing. It's done, it's over. We lost. I'm right back where I started.
Elena: That's not true. Yeah, Klaus dragged you through hell, but you came out the other side. You beat him by being better than him.
Stefan: And what did I lose in the process? Look, hating Klaus was easy. It allowed me to ignore everything that was happening around me. Everything I let slip away. Now I have to deal with them.
Elena: Stefan-
Stefan: I know, just admit it. Admit it to me, Elena. I know you don't owe it to me, but I just need to hear you say it.
Elena: I-I can't. Because it's not true, Stefan. I never stopped loving you.
Stefan: I know that. I know you did. Even though I did everything possible to push you away. It's my fault. It's all my fault. I mean, this is all my fault.
Elena: What are you talking about?
Stefan: I'm talking about the fact that you're also in love with Damon.
Elena: What? No, Stefan, I, We're just-
Stefan: Hey, I love you. I will always love you. I just want you to look me in the eye and tell me that you don't feel something for him.
Elena: I don't know what I feel.
-Seriously, Alaric would potentially be the one to kill Damon's bloodline. Darn that alter ego!
Alaric: Where the hell is it?
Damon: Ha-ha-ha, look harder Ric.
Alaric: It's not here, Damon.
Damon: Maybe you just forgot what shelf you put it on.
Alaric: No, I didn't forget it, I put it right here. A stake doesn't just vanish into thin air.
Damon: Who else did you tell, Ric?
Alaric: I didn't tell anybody, Damon. I'm the only-
Damon: What?
Alaric: I'm the only one who knew about it Damon.
Damon: No. Are you telling me that your vampire-hating alter ego has a stake that can kill an entire line of vampires, possibly mine?
Alaric: That's exactly what I'm telling you.
Darn it, why are they going on another hiatus? It's like, they just give us two episodes and then make us wait again for too many weeks.

Has any of you seen this awesome poster/picture?

Or this one?

Anyway, enough about my comments. Did you see this episode? Did you love it as much as I did? Talk to me in the comments!!

Friday Reads: The Name of This Book is Secret

I've been raving about this book (and the rest of the books in the Secret Series) for years, so it seemed only proper to add it as a Friday Read:

The Name of This Book is Secret
by Pseudonymous Bosch

For: 8-12-year-olds

Genre: Mystery (and I will argue Humor as well)

Published: 2007

Description: This is the story about a secret. but it also contains a secret story.

When adventurous detectives, Cass, an ever-vigilant survivalist, and Max-Ernest, a boy driven by logic, discover the Symphony of Smells, a box filled with smelly vials of colorful ingredients, they accidentally stumble upon a mystery surrounding a dead magician's diary and the hunt for immortality.

Filled with word games, anagrams, and featuring a mysterious narrator, this is a book that won't stay secret for long.

Why I liked it: I'm a sucker for an off-beat narrator, and this is one of the best.  Plus, this book came with a warning not to read further than the title page, and the first two pages of Chapter 1 were Xed out.  (Literally.)  Who can resist a mystery like that?
---
Got any comparable titles?  Please share. I'm DYING to find another book like this one!  (Though I'm convinced that I may just have to write one.)

Happy weekend reading!

RANT: Why I Hate Group Projects

Ever since I started working in group projects in college (perhaps even in high school), I just never liked it. I prefer to work alone and carry the weight because I know I won't let myself down. I can't say the same if I'm working in a group. Check out my specific reasons on why I hate group projects.

  • Social Loafing - this is a phenomenon that just seem like a cool thing to do for some reason. I absolutely dislike group members who are freeloaders and expect for everyone to simply hand a good grade to them for doing absolutely nothing.
  • Incompetence - some people simply can't do things right. It makes me wonder how they get to where they are if they can't produce a decent paper to save their lives. It boggles my mind that half of the students on campus don't know proper grammar and spelling. I just don't understand how they are succeeding in their classes that way.
  • Foreign exchange students - incompetence and confusion mixed together. I don't want to be prejudiced or anything, but I just can't put my trust on you if you can't speak or write the language. What's worse is that they know they need help, but yet they refuse to ask.
  • Detached member - it drives me crazy that people would ask to be in a group with you and then goes on to refuse to cooperate and communicate. These kinds of people only show up at the day of the presentation, write their papers at a bare minimum, and then proceed to rudely interrupt you when you're answering a question from the audience.
  • Procrastinators - need I say more? Seriously, I suggest to the group members that we start the project a month early so that we wouldn't have that much stress when it comes close to the deadline. Instead, they decide to finally do the project 3 days before the deadline. And then all that could go wrong, goes wrong and people like me are the ones that carries the weight of everyone.
  • Plagiarizers - I absolutely cannot stand plagiarizers. This goes mostly for people who have English as their second language. It's hard for them to formulate their own thoughts so they simply copy and paste. I don't understand why they even bother to try if all they're going to do is cheat. English is not my first language but I've managed to learn and comprehend the language enough that I can say I'm competent to get the job done. Is it so hard to put in that effort?
There you have it folks. One of my rare rants. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Agree or disagree, just be polite :)

TV Review Compilation: Gossip Girl

The Backup Dan

Georgina is so annoying. I really want to just slap some sense into her. Why won't she change? Or why won't Blair get rid of her?

That queen is such a b(w)itch. I want to do the same thing to her as Georgina.

I can't wait until Blair and Chuck are together for good. Come on already! So much drama with Blair. I want to see her smile for once.
Chuck: A dowry? What century do you think this is?
I feel bad for Serena because Dan obviously doesn't feel the same about her.

Chuck is willing to buy Blair's freedom, all because he loves her. He's freaking amazing. Their scenes always make me cry! Seeing Chuck's heart break over and over is just too much for my fragile heart.

I feel bad for Dan being such a good friend to the one person he's in love with. He's a good person.

I love how smart the real Charlotte Rhodes is. She's not down to be in Nate's crazy world.

Georgina is so evil.

There's so many lies in this show. Now it seems Dan is up to no good.

Crazy, Cupid, Love

Blair as the Queen of Hearts - oh dear.

I love the real Charlotte Rhodes putting Nate in his place.

Eww, the fake Charlie is back. I can't stand her. Why is she back?

I love how Chuck offered to help Nate get a girl. How sweet! He really has changed.

What does Georgina get for hurting so many people and making their lives miserable? Seriously.

I'm glad that Blair playing cupid has brought smile to her face once again, even just for a while.

Why did Dan kiss Blair?! He knows better!

Will the real Charlie Rhodes, please stand up? The real one and the fake one SERIOUSLY DO NOT look a like. I mean come on. The fake one has a wide face and a crazy annoying voice or the lack of it! I wish the real one would just reveal the dang secret already.

Book Review: Dark Flame by Alyson Noel

Dark Flame is the fourth book of The Immortals series by Alyson Noel. I'm not going to lie, it took me over a month to finish this book. Partly because of school responsibilities and partly because I really did struggle in reading this book.

Two of the things I noted when I was reading this book were:

  • Alyson Noel took love triangles into a whole different level. In fact, she changed the triangle. She created a love SQUARE! One girl and three guys fighting to have her heart and trust.
  • The other thing I noted was the absurdity of how one girl can be so stinking stupid. I said it again and again, Ever is the most idiotic character in a book I've read. She makes the wrong decisions and just so hard on herself, it's really annoying. It was also the reason why I had such a hard time getting through this book.
This book really lived up to its name - it really was dark and depressing for the most part. It was such a blur to me because I went days when I put down the book and didn't pick it up until ... well, now and went on to finish it. The darkness and the insecurities and the doubts really bothered me but at the same time, I think it is what makes Ever her true self. She's far from perfect and she has Damen who truly cares and loves her and yet she's too obsessed with the antidote and not making mistakes that she ends up making all kinds of blunders anyway.

Towards the end of the book, I was SO MAD at Jude. If you've read this book, you know exactly what I'm talking about. He had no right to do what he did.

Roman was shown in a different light in this book. I was glad that there was that moment where Ever saw his background in the Great Halls of Learning. I think the author did a great job building his character in that way.

Am I the only one that is annoyed that Sabine is still in Ever's life as a full pledged human? Haha, I feel like there's all this immortality and craziness about elixirs that humans don't seem to exist anymore. And the mere fact that I'm reminded that they still do doesn't sit well with me.

Finally, Haven is crazy. I don't like her at all. She's stubborn and just won't listen to reason. She's hell bent on making Ever and Damen's life miserable.

Now, my usual quotes and scenes :)
Damen: "My feelings for you are not conditional. I don't judge you. I don't lose patience with you. I don't punish you. I just love you. That's all. Pure and simple. You have no reason to hide anything from me -- ever. Understood? I'm not going anywhere. I'll always be here for you. And if you need anything, find yourself in a bind, or in over your head, all you have to do is ask and I'll be right there to bail you out."
Ava: "When you focus on what you fear -- you get more of what you fear. When you focus on what you don't want -- you get more of what you don't want. When you focus on attempting to control others -- you attract more of being controlled. You attention to them brings more of them, and more like them, into your life. Imposing your will upon others in order to persuade them to do something they're normally unwilling to do -- well, not only does it not work but it also has a way of boomeranging right back at you."
Haven: "You know, Ever, in every relationship, there's always someone who loves more, right?"
Roman: "What? You think I've never done anything nice?
Ever: "I think it's been a while. You're probably a bit rusty by now."
Even if you haven't read this book, let me know in the comments:
What would you do if you know you and the person you love the most - your soulmate - can never touch each other again?

They don't make kids movies like they used to...

I've been watching a lot of the HD channels on Sky lately. They've been showing The Mighty Ducks on FOX Family Movies the past couple of days and it got me thinking that kids these days don't get these types of movies anymore.

The Mighty Ducks was a movie that shaped a lot of childhoods. It was a hockey movie about these kids who were underdogs/misfits and ended up winning. Emilio Estevez was Coach Gordon Bombay and Joshua Jackson (Pacey from Dawson's Creek and Peter Bishop from Fringe) was the awesome Charlie Conway! Everyone my age knows who Charlie Conway is! Rollerblading became a hit because of The Mighty Ducks! (No hockey except in the old Megamall ice skating rink)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there aren't any kids movies that show values of friendship, teamwork, fair play, and rising above the challenge. What do kids get these days? You have Ice Age 4 and Madagascar 3 coming up... Seriously? Disney, I believe needs to bring back all these kids movies/ pre-teen movies.

Remember the 3 Ninjas? The Little Giants? Stand by me? I feel bad for the kids these days... Those were the movies that made you want to play outside the house. Maybe I'm getting too old... What do you think?

Teaser Tuesday: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

If you've read one of my posts last week, you would know that I posted about memes and whether I should do them or not. Well, this week is the week I am officially trying to participate. I decided Teaser Tuesdays is one of the easiest to do! I might not do it every week but hey, I have other plans sometimes. Anyway, check it out below!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along. Just do the following!
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS
  • (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"I've got a wicked hangover. This is just the thing to cure it."

Finding Inspiration

The weather has been so nice for the past two weeks that I've been spending most of my time out in the yard, pruning and weeding and getting the garden prepped for planting.  But this morning, Mother Nature decided I'd had enough sun, so she sent a lovely little thunderstorm instead.
Ah, well, I suppose revision is the name of the game today.

But as I sat at my computer, revising that quiet little WIP that's been calling my name for months, I realized the thunderstorm outside was also calling my name.  I could feel it's dark, murderous mood (which, incidentally, was NOT the mood of the scene I was revising), and I wanted to capture it on paper somehow.

I was inspired.

The thunderstorm must have heard my thoughts and wanted to remain free, because it quickly moved on before I had a chance to open a file and start typing, but I did take a few moments to think about how quickly I had found inspiration.  I decided to look around and see if there was any other inspiration I could find.

And I did.  The budding flowers of the bright yellow forsythia plant outside my window brought a happy thought.  The pair of mud-encrusted shoes by my front door brought an imagine  quietly churning the soil; of quiet strength as the very earth itself was moved by my hands.  I thought of the wind as it moaned through the house, conjuring images of ghosts and phantoms and unseen things.

Finding inspiration is as easy as taking the time to look around.  Where do you find inspiration?  Please inspire me!

TV Review: Vampire Diaries Season 3: Brean on Through

Now this is the kind of episode that I enjoy! :) So intense, so emotional, so totally amazing.

So Dr. Fell is not such as bad person after all? She was actually trying to help? I feel bad that she got hurt.
Damon to Elena: When you were in love and everything was rainbows and unicorns.
I love it when Damon is the bad Damon. He really has very humorous things to say.

Stefan and Elena scene was so awkward. Stefan stopping from eating because Elena was there to watch. I don't understand why it was okay for Elena before and now it's not.

Damon is really irresistible when he starts to flirt and play with a girl's mind.
Dr. Fell: I've been wondering why you don't drive a stake in Damon's heart.
Alaric: I tried once. He killed me.
Damon to Stefan: You're stress eating.
Damon: Hope's a bitch, Sage. Get out while you can.

oh my heart, Damon.
Stefan: I'm not trying to hurt you Elena. I just can't be what you want me to be right now.
ugh, where have I heard that line from Stefan before? ^^

Alaric transforming into a psycho was too creepy. It's haunting me.

Damon is super sexy when he wants to be, but when he's angry, he is deadly :)

Stefan controlling his bloodlust, feeding Dr. Fell his blood, and then running away was so touching! I got teary!
"Break On Through"--LtoR: Nina Dobrev as Elena and Paul Wesley as Stefan on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES on The CW. Photo: Quantrell D.Colbert/The CW ©2012 The CW Network. All Rights Reserved.

Bonnie and Elena - another teary moment! Dang this episode make me wanna bawl like a baby!
Elena: Please say you forgive me.
Bonnie: Of course I do.
Caroline and Abby - yet another teary moment.
Caroline: No one is better off without their parent!
Ah, Damon and his resourcefulness. That Wickery Bridge sign is the key... But I don't want them to kill Klaus or Elijah! That spell should be reversed or something. Klaus is not killing anyone for fun anymore, and Elijah is too noble; he doesn't deserve to die.

Did you watch this episode? Did you cry? Do you love Vampire Diaries as much as I do?!

Movie Review: THE HUNGER GAMES!

The most-awaited movie is finally here and it took me long enough to go see it. It was wonderfully amazing!!!

Where do I even start the review? How about the parts that got me choked up and I wanted to cry?
  • When Katniss volunteered for Prim.

  • When Katniss told her mom not to cry.
  • When Katniss told Gale to take care of her family for her.
  • When Katniss and Peeta came out on fire and Peeta grabbed her hand and told her that the audience will love it. (The flaming red dress was also amazing!)

  • When Rue died and Katniss sobbed and covered her with flowers and sobbed some more.

  • When Katniss saw the Nightlock berries and she thought Peeta ate them.
  • When Katniss and Peeta ran into each other and Katniss told him the berries were poisonous.
My most favorite part was definitely the Nightlock berries that killed Foxface. The relief in Katniss's face when she found out that Peeta was still alive and Peeta was so confused and apologetic. That was the best moment; I felt the most genuine emotion from them. I wanted to cry so much in that scene.

Other characters I liked were Cinna because he's just too amazing to not like, and then I also liked Seneca only because his facial hair was cool. Very nice and artistically shaven :) I also liked Effie when she was super lilac. that was so pretty to me.

At the very end, I felt bad for Cato, because he let the Capitol change him and that was exactly what Peeta didn't want to happen to him.

I was kind of curious/confuse when I didn't hear Safe and Sound in the movie. I thought for sure it would be in there, maybe the cave scene or something.

Peeta really looked like he loved Katniss. His interview with Caesar was so beautiful, not to mention Katniss's reaction afterwards. Peeta is such a gentle character, I love him. When he was in the cave with Katniss, I thought he was so hot and manly for some reason, when he really wasn't. He was weak. But that's okay, Katniss can take care of him.

Katniss giving Peeta a quick pep talk.

Have you seen the movie? Have you read the books?
If you've seen the movie, are you going to see it again? I know I am!!!
Did anyone get so freaked out when the muttations attacked? I jumped in my seat!
